Following on from a successful annual conference at Gatwick AFOA and our US colleagues the ARFF WG held a joint conference in Linz, Austria. The conference was well attended and had some notable speakers including Sabrina Cohen-Hatton, Deborah Edmonds, Simon Petts, Marc Clothier, Gerry Keogh, Duanne Kann and Jack Kreckie. Thanks to all the speakers and sponsors of the event, in particular Rosenbauer who provided the delegates with a full day tour of the plant and some very insightful presentations.
The end of the conference also marked the end of Simon Petts chairmanship of AFOA, Simon has been in the position for over 4 years and has lead the association through a great deal of positive change, setting foundations for many successful years to come. Simon will remain on the committee as Vice Chair whilst John Purdy takes over as the new Chair.
After 12 years of being on the committee Ian Webb has decided to step down, Ian has been an integral part of AFOA and he will be missed by us all, our thanks go to Ian for all his hard work over the years. We would also like to introduce Lyndsey Grant as a new committee member, most of you will know Lyndsey from her career at Cranfield, Lyndsey will be an excellent addition to the committee and I’m sure you will all welcome her.
Hopefully you will be aware by now that the next AFOA Annual Conference will be at the new location of the Birmingham Hilton Metropole from the 11th to the 13th February. This new location should hopefully continue to enhance our delegates and exhibitors experience. We would like to see as many members there as possible.
As mentioned at the AGM we as an association are always willing to support individuals or organisations that are looking to develop specific projects or work steams that have a benefit to our industry, all we would ask is that the findings are shared with us and our members.
Please feel free to approach us with a request for support should you have one.
Regards
AFOA Committee.
