AAIB Response to the Southend Incident

Mark Jarvis from the AAIB is speaking to the delegates on the operational response to the Southend Aircraft incident, from the AAIB. Mark outlined the priorities for the AAIB as far as evidence collection is concerned, particularly, aircraft skid marks, ground impact marks and highlighted the RFFS were skilled in preserving this type of evidence. He then spoke on the Southend incident, from the initial contact and information gathering before mobilising the team to the airfield. He gave details of the recorded data of the aircraft including CVR, Airport CCTV, Witness videos etc. and also details of the multi agency response to this incident, he thanked the professionalism of Southend RFFS for how they dealt with this incident. Mark also shared what his department had learned from the incident as far as working within the multi agency forum, providing insight that reviewing these types of incidents improves responses going forward. Mark finished his talk by stating that if any blue light service declares a major incident the AAIB will activate its major accident response protocol, which mobilises all available resources to the incident.
