Neil Gray CAA Principle Aerodrome Inspector
Neil Gray, CAA Principle Aerodrome Inspector gave an industry update to the conference. He spoke on a broad range of topics, including Aviation 2030+, the future of aviation, this includes Airspace modernisation, Airport expansion, Security and Resilience and AI. He covered the UK Aviation Regulatory Framework and how the regulation, policies and guidance impact different aerodromes, depending on their status. Neil also spoke on the current data that is collected through MOR reporting through the Eccairs portal and what this data means for the RFFS as possible precursor events. Lithium -Ion batteries and the risks these pose to aircraft was covered, giving examples of some of the items that have been involved in fire on aircraft – this led Neil into talking about an experimental electric aircraft which is currently operating around some airports, he gave details of the aircraft including the on board power system.
